Transportation Playing Cards

Happy Super Bowl Sunday Everyone. It is raining here and I am spending the morning sorting through more playing cards -- putting cards that are new to my collection in my playing card albums and listing the cards that are duplicates of what I have in my collection on eBay. Today I am sorting through playing cards that feature ships, railroads, and airlines. I love these cards and there is such a nice variety of them. So many of the cards that feature specific airlines and railroads bring back fond memories of transportation companies that are no longer around. Do you remember Western Airlines? What about Pacific Northern Airlines or Pan American World Airways? The playing cards issued by these airlines years ago are now very collectible -- both as single swap playing cards -- the types of cards I collect -- or as complete decks of playing cards. Sorting through my transportation playing cards gives me such a nostalgic feeling. Many history teachers, in fact, use playing cards in their classrooms to educate our young people about the changes that have taken place in transportation over the years.

I sort through cards while watching TV and while Bashful Boy sleeps. Sorting through cards is so relaxing and so enjoyable. There are so many thousands of different cards out in the world and I am always thrilled when I find cards to add to my ever growing collection.

Enjoy your Super Bowl Day,

Sally

Bashful Boy

Bashful Boy is my very precious Beagle. He is 5 years old and very active. He lets me know when I am spending too much time on my playing card collection and not giving him enough TLC. I try to work on my cards when Bashful is sleeping so he does not feel deprived of my love. I have more than 3000 different single Dog Playing Cards and many of them are Beagles. I do, however, have more Scottie Dog Cards than any other breed -- more than 1000 Scottie Dog cards alone in my collection. As soon as I can, I will upload some of my Dog Playing Cards for you to check out. In the meantime, you can see hundreds of my Dog Playing Cards by going to eBay and searching under Seller thousandsofcards or by visiting my eBay Store at http://stores.ebay.com/vintage-playing-cards-and-oldbooks. Have a great day, Sally

Playing Cards - A Great Hobby

My name is Sally and I first started collecting single playing cards in the 1950s when I was a little girl. They were called trading cards at that time but they were identical to playing cards but did not have any numbers of suits on the back of them as they do today. My original playing card collection disappeared when I became interested in boys as a teenager. I never lost my love of this wonderful collection and was delighted when my brother gave me an antique book in the early 1990s that mentioned a club for playing card collectors. I joined that club and began collecting playing cards again. My current collection numbers in the thousands and is so much larger and better than the collection I had as a child.

I trade cards with other collectors around the world. I have so many different single dog, cat, horse, pinup, people, paintings, airline, railroad, ship, advertising, and miscellaneous playing cards. I sell my extra cards on eBay. You can get a glimpse of the cards I have by checking out my eBay Store which is called Vintage Playing Cards and Old Books or you can search under my eBay Seller ID which is thousandsofcards.

I will write more about my collection soon and hope to hear from you about your collections as well. Collecting single playing cards is wonderful for anyone who is interested in an exciting yet relatively inexpensive hobby. This is also a great hobby for anyone who is homebound during the cold winter months or who is disabled and has to spend a lot of time indoors. I love collecting playing cards and so do all the other collectors that I keep in touch with.

Check out my cards -- you will be amazed at the wide variety of cards that are available to collectors. Happy Collecting, Sally
